HLHK is your one stop shop for swimming. We offer swim lessons via our Learn 2 Swim program for swimmers of all ages. Additionally, our Developmental Stroke School is designed to improve stroke technique and conditioning. The HLHK Sharks is our summer recreational team and are HLHK SEALs swim team is our year-round competitive swim program. Additionally, we offer adult swimming lessons, as well as Masters Training for adults that want to swim to stay in shape.
Learn 2 Swim
The learn 2 Swim Beginner is our introductory class. It is geared towards getting our swimmers comfortable in the water. Mastering basics of breathing, buoyancy and propulsion. Our Beginner/Tot program teaches/focuses on three distinct steps to create the most optimum and ideal environment for swimmers to learn to swim whether 6 months, under three years old or 72 the beginning is the beginning. We focus on becoming comfortable, confident and safe.
The Learn 2 Swim Intermediate program is the second phase of the HLHK Learn 2 swim program. It begins as basic as doing a successful submersion for five seconds and we move to strengthen propulsion, increase unassisted swim, strengthen basic breathing techniques.Intermediate is designed as a more “competitive” learn to swim curriculum for those looking for more advanced instruction –covering streamlining, rhythmic breathing, side breathing freestyle
The Learn 2 Swim Advanced class is for the swimmer that has mastered the skills of Learn 2 Swim beginner and Learn 2 Swim Intermediate. We build the endurance to make it 25 yards unassisted in freestyle and backstroke and slowly introduce the 2 other competitive strokes of breaststroke, and butterfly. Learn 2 Swim Advanced also covers the basics of long shallow competitive dives, treading water, survival floats.
Age: ALL – Learn 2 Swim Beginner Graduate and Learn 2 Swim Intermediate Graduate
More than a third of adults in the United States can’t swim the length of a pool, which puts them at risk of being one of the 10 people who drown every day in this country.Adult Learn-to-Swim initiative is on the front lines to change this statistic.
HLHK Stroke School introduces young athletes to the world of competitive swimming! Through the application of drills/skills/repeating of sound, basic swimming fundamentals and race strategies, our Stroke School kiddos are taught an appreciation of the sport from an early age! We teach the swimmer to perform All four competitive strokes legally for 25-100 yards. Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke unassisted. Practices last 60 minutes, twice a week are offered. Ideal age (but not limited to) is 6-9 yrs of age.
State Group Select
This is the highest level competitive group that we offer. Recommended for swimmers who wish to participate in Sectional, National and potentially International competitions with a strong emphasis on USA Junior Nationals. Select State swimmers are already at the Sectional level with goals of finalling at Sectionals. Our State Select group is high intensity, highly technical, and focused on the three main areas of improvement in swimming: Technique, Strength, and Endurance.
This high intensity/ high reward group trains 6-7 pool practices a week, 2 dryland practices per week and offers structured strength programs as well. Swimming in college is another main objective of swimmers in the HLHK SELECT Group and assistance with the recruiting process is offered to all group members. There is also a strong emphasis on community service as well as giving back to and being leaders of HLHK.
The Senior Emerging Group consists of predominantly 11 and older swimmers who have the ability, desire and commitment to continue and develop their competitive swimming career with HLHK. This program is tailored for swimmers who have dedicated themselves to the sport of swimming, and are capable of consistently performing difficult training sets in practice, working towards becoming State finalists and Sectionals qualifiers. Challenging workouts designed to help athletes qualify for the State and Sectional meet. In addition, many members of this group swim concurrently with their high school and middle school swim teams.
The Senior Emerging Group consists of predominantly 11 and older swimmers who have the ability, desire and commitment to continue and develop their competitive swimming career with HLHK.
Swimmers can expect to be challenged on aerobic and anaerobic levels while embracing cutting edge and creative training techniques and drills, both in and out of the pool all season long.
This group is for the swimmer who has the ability, desire and commitment to continue their competitive swimming career with HLHK. But also has a busy schedule an needs leniency in their schedule.
Emerging Age Group
The EAG Gold groups is for 7-10 yr old competitive swimmers. This program is tailored for swimmers who have dedicated themselves to the sport of swimming, and are capable of consistently performing difficult training sets in practice, working towards becoming STATE finalists at the GA Age Group State Meet and Sectionals qualifiers. Swimmers can expect to be challenged on aerobic and anaerobic levels while embracing cutting edge and creative training techniques and drills, both in and out of the pool all season long. Swimmers will be placed in this group at the Coach’s discretion
Age Group Silver is for experienced and technically skilled 7-10 year olds. Further emphasis is placed on stroke technique, interval training and pacing, and aerobic development. Group goals include consistent practice attendance, meet attendance, and achieving USA Swimming’s “A” times. Practices are 1 hr and 15 minutes, offered up to 5 days/week, with two days of dryland exercise added.
Basic SEALs Training
Technique/Fitness Group. This is the perfect group for the “casually competitive” swimmer. Once or Twice a week option, to accommodate the busiest of families. Practices are one hour, and attention to proper stroke details are emphasized with some endurance training as well, with a little bit of FUN thrown in! Typical age range: 7-14.
